Planning & Permitting

Engineering Starts with Smart Sourcing

Source Identification & Hydraulic Design

WDW holds dedicated industrial water rights in North Dakota and Montana, complemented by municipal and private contracts that give us priority access during surge demand. Our annual supply capacity exceeds 35,000 Acre-Feet (270 million barrels), conditionally approved and available across:

  • Montana: Richland and Roosevelt Counties

  • North Dakota: Williams, Divide, Dunn, Stark, Mountrail, and McKenzie Counties

We evaluate topography, site access, and volume needs to design high-performance hydraulic transfer systems tailored to each project.

Permitting & Regulatory Navigation

West Dakota Water (WDW) specializes in the planning, permitting, and right-of-way acquisition required for efficient and compliant water sourcing and transfer operations across the Bakken. Our team handles every phase — from source identification to on-site delivery — so clients can stay focused on frac operations.

With nearly 250 miles of permanent pipeline, 150 miles of lay-flat hose, and 70+ owned pumps, WDW provides reliable, high-capacity coverage throughout the play. Our systems are purpose-built to meet the volume, pressure, and timing demands of modern completions.

WDW is a technology driven company that leads the Bakken in the way water is diverted, stored, and delivered to the end user. WDW has a fully automated water transfer division that was developed in-house that can withstand our harsh North Dakota/Montana weather. We use this technology to operate, monitor, evaluate and improve our day-to-day activities.
